Molteni Group - Furniture Manufacturing Plant

Citterio / Molteni Group, one of Italy’s leading furniture manufacturers, aimed to improve energy efficiency and sustainability at its Sirone production facility by converting production waste into usable energy.

During furniture manufacturing processes, significant quantities of wood powder and fine wood residues are generated, representing a valuable renewable energy source when properly utilized.

The objective of the project was to implement a safe, stable, and high-efficiency combustion system capable of using wood powder as fuel, while reducing fossil fuel consumption and overall energy costs.

For this application, a 6 MW wood powder burner plant was designed and commissioned, integrated with a 20 m³ combustion chamber (combustor).

The system was specifically engineered to ensure controlled, continuous, and efficient combustion of wood powder.

The scope of supply included:

• Dedicated wood powder burner and fuel feeding system
• 6 MW thermal capacity to cover the plant’s process heat demand
• 20 m³ combustor providing stable and homogeneous combustion conditions
• Conversion of production wood waste into usable thermal energy
• Full integration with industrial automation and safety systems
• Heavy-duty design suitable for continuous industrial operation

Following installation and commissioning, the plant achieved the following results:
